"Where in the world are we today?"

In years past this blog was a way for family and friends to join us on our journey as we lived and traveled throughout Europe. Beginning September 2017 it will include our journey into Waldorf homeschooling/worldschooling. I hope to offer inspiration and connection to those that love to travel and home school their children...

Following My Son

My dishes went unwashed today,
I didn’t make the bed,
I took his hand and followed
Where his eager footsteps led.
Oh yes, we went adventuring,
My little son and I,
Exploring all the great outdoors
Beneath the summer sky.
We waded in a crystal stream,
We wandered through a wood.
My kitchen wasn’t swept today,
But life was sweet and good.
We found a cool sun-dappled glade
And now my small son knows
How Mother Bunny hides her nest
Where fern and larkspur grow.
We watched a robin feed her young,
We climbed a sunlit hill,
Saw cloud-sheep scamper through the sky;
We plucked a daffodil.
That my house was neglected,
That I didn’t sweep the stair,
In twenty years no one on earth
Will know or even care.
But that I’ve helped a little boy
To noble manhood grow,
In twenty years the whole wide world
May look and see and know.

Celebrating Tristan's Fourth Birthday!

Tristan turned four years old on the 4th of July!!
It has taken me two weeks to post it on the blog, as if sending it out into the internet makes it more real. It has taken me those two weeks to allow that number '4' to sink in.
I'm okay with it now (well not really..but better than before).

Here is my sweet boy opening his presents.

He wanted Pell to have a sister to play with...so he got a little sister for Pell along with a mama pig and two piglets.

Tristan desperately wanted a camera for his birthday. His criteria were, and I quote: " I really want a camera, one that takes REAL pictures that I can look at and put on mama's blog".
He was very excited to get his new camera and was snapping photos all day. He managed nearly 800 photos on his birthday. We reviewed them after he went to bed and decided to post some of his 'work'...quite good actually. Below are his pictures:

It is really fun to see things from his perspective and I think he is a really great photographer!

We went to the BMW museum at Olympia Park for Tristan's birthday lunch. He picked this BMW as his favorite. We are in trouble when he turns 16!

Good to see that he will be a cautious driver, as he carefully adjusts his rear view mirror.

For lunch Tristan had his first sushi (California rolls)!

Then we headed to his favorite place...Sea Life!

Taking pictures of the sea turtle.

Blowing out four candles on his raspberry torte birthday cake that the fairies made for him while we were out all day.

YUM!
Happy Birthday sweet Tristan!
