"Where in the world are we today?"

In years past this blog was a way for family and friends to join us on our journey as we lived and traveled throughout Europe. Beginning September 2017 it will include our journey into Waldorf homeschooling/worldschooling. I hope to offer inspiration and connection to those that love to travel and home school their children...

Neuschwanstein Castle!

After a two week hiatus, a much needed break after our Trans-Atlantic travels, we were ready to hit the road again. The Neuschwanstein Castle is only an hour and a half drive from us, so we took to the road on Saturday to check out King Ludwig's house.
The weather by the castle is very volitile, and one minute there is blue sky, and the next, this misty fog and you can't see 10 feet in front of you.

Since I didn't have the luxery of taking this photo from a helecoptor, I cheated and took a photo of a poster...which is the only way you can see the entire palace.
Walt Disney replicated this castle in his world famous "Disney Land Castle".

On our way up to the top of the mountain, we took a horse and carriage ride. The driver handed over the reins to Tristan, who took his job very seriously.

And just like when he was in the cockpit of the plane, he gave us that "look" of... "See, I told you I could drive a horse and carriage!".

Between the mist, the fog, and the sun coming from behind the castle, the photos were challenging to take.

We weren't allowed to take photos inside, only out the windows....so I tried to be creative.

Okay, I did manage to sneak a few photos of Tristan on the inside.

In the gift shop, there was this giant wall sized poster of the castle. All that was missing was a pointer in Tristan's hand so he could say, "And we are here".

I usually manage to take our photo together by placing the camera on something and using the timer. However, there was nothing I could use here, so relying on the kindness of strangers to take a family photo...beggers can't be choosers, and it shows on Tristan's face!
