"Where in the world are we today?"

In years past this blog was a way for family and friends to join us on our journey as we lived and traveled throughout Europe. Beginning September 2017 it will include our journey into Waldorf homeschooling/worldschooling. I hope to offer inspiration and connection to those that love to travel and home school their children...

Venice, Italy!

Our vacation to Venice was one of the best times of my life! It had everything...ambiance, the unbelievable architecture, the secrets revealed around each and every corner, and at the end of every alley way. It was absolute eye candy for my soul and I cried as our water taxi pulled into the heart of Venice at Realto Bridge. And for one of those rare moments in my life, I was left speechless!

This was just one of many views from our gondola ride.

Capturing a perfect sight off of Realto Bridge at sunset. It took my breath away!

We bought Tristan a harmonica at one of the local music shops, and he took to it like fish take to water...and he serenaded the square during the dinner hour.

This was "OUR" square where we stayed at Campo San Boldo. It was out of the way of the touristy areas and full of family life, and we LOVED it!

This fountain was so beautiful to me and I wanted to have Tristan's picture by it. Every day we walked past it, and I would say to Tristan, "Let me take your picture by the fountain", and he would consistantly give these cheesy grins and it just wasn't what I wanted. Finally on our last day, he meandered over on his own accord for the pure joy of feeling the cool water on a hot day, and I captured that natural moment in time, and I couldn't have been happier!

This was our favorite square, just around the corner from the villa where we were staying. It was full of grandparents pushing newborn babies in their prams, and little children playing together while their parents had an expresso. We bought some chalk and joined in the fun and then I stole a kiss!

Everything about Venice was incredibly beautiful to me, even their laundry was beautiful!
I couldn't help myself, I loved their table cloths!

A picture perfect postcard of Venice on every canal.

Catching the morning sun.

This was the view from our plane looking down on Venice!

We went to the market square and even the artichokes were stunning!

Family portrait taken in our square.

Pistacchio gelato with daddy of course!

View looking out of San Marco Square.

Tristan was all smiles and grins during our gondola ride!

My boys making a dinner reservation on the canal at our favorite restaurant Il Refolo.

And here is a night shot of our dinner where we ate THE best pizza ever!

Venice is famous for hand made Carnivale Masks.

At the market...

We got to watch a boat race.

Best looking cookies and cream ice cream I've ever seen!

Pigeon play in San Marco Square.

Tristan acting a little wild and crazy with what looks like Madonna's "Vogue" dance.

Venice is also known for its Venecian glass.

Yes, it's more laundry!

It was refreshing to be in a pedestrian zone only, and to not see a single automobile or even bicycle for 4 days.

Tristan's sillouette against the market.

I just love how all the stairways and steps of the city lead right into the water.

More of the boat race.

Tristan running free around a square.

Tristan enjoying some play time amongst little Italian children.

Octopus anyone?

Ciao from one of my most favorite places on Earth!
