"Where in the world are we today?"

In years past this blog was a way for family and friends to join us on our journey as we lived and traveled throughout Europe. Beginning September 2017 it will include our journey into Waldorf homeschooling/worldschooling. I hope to offer inspiration and connection to those that love to travel and home school their children...

Kefalonia, Greece!

Welcome to Kefalonia, Greece, where we spent a week celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary!

Here's our beach crab!

This was our favorite beach.

Into the waves we go!

We visited the Dragarati Cave.

Some kind of standoff between Tristan and a goat.

Just like in Venice where I fell in love with their laundry...here I became enamored with Kefalonia's olive groves...so beautiful with leaves that have two shades of green contrasted against the deep red earth beneath the trees.

My sweetie, happiest when he has the sun on his face and the ocean not far away.
"Yasas, has anyone seen my goats?"

This is what we refer to as the post-wasp aftermath. Tristan was stung twice on the ankle by a nasty wasp and our hostess's three daughters shoveled strawberry ice cream into Tristan to help ease his pain!

Harbor at Sami

Tristan riding the waves!

These were 3 to 4 foot swells, with the occassional rogue 6 footer!

Five years!
Where did the time go? We remenised about what we were doing 5 years ago that day in Brittany, France....Christian was running out for MORE pastries while my mother and I went through the wedding rehersal.

We usually watch our wedding video every year on our anniversary, but it's back home in Rochester, so we mumbled the only lines we could remember from our vows.."I will be your banquet when life's table seems empty"...or something like that...and then we had a laugh as we always do.

And it was also Father's Day on this trip....so here are some of my favorite father and son photographs from Greece!
Tristan and daddy in the cave.

This is the view looking down on Sami. This is where the movie Captian Corelli's Mandolin was filmed.

The town has lots of photos of Penelope Cruz and Nicolas Cage during and in between filming. I am currently reading the book and will watch the movie as soon as I am finished.

Here is Tristan getting taken out by a little wave.

The market

Tristan swimming in the pool at our villa.

Oh baklava...so yummy dripping with honey!

View from our villa bedroom.

We all had turns wave jumping...

And at one point or another, we all got slammed by one!

Dragarati Cave
This was my favorite olive grove.

The locals say that to see a sea turtle is very lucky...

This one came right up to me at Argostoli harbor. A few days later, I brought Tristan down to the harbor to see if we could catch a glimpse of one....and a mother and her baby came right up to Tristan but I had left my camera in the car.

Christian's turn for wave jumping!

Christian bought these Greek cookies by the dozen...but called them "biscuits"...as if referring to them as 'biscuits' rather than 'cookies' gave them more nutritional value!

Yasas!
